GREENHOUSE
Each winter at Sunrise Acres we start thousands of vegetable plants, bedding plants, herbs and perennials which are available for sales around April 1st each year. All our plants are started from seed with the exception of a few herbs and perennials that are best propagated by root division or stem cuttings. The young plants are nourished with fish emulsion, blood meal and bone meal. Pests are controlled with biological methods when possible: ladybugs are released into the greenhouses. If more control is needed, we use BT's , insecticidal soaps, or pyrethin products.

Another service we offer is custom growing. Each spring we start specific quantities of certain vegetable varieties for individuals, market gardeners, and landscapers. If you want a number of a particular variety for your garden and don't want to take a chance on finding them at your garden center when you are ready, call or email us to inquire about reserving them for you. Remember that growing plants from seed can be a lengthy process (from 8 to 16 weeks depending on the type) so contact us in December or January.
